How to File an RTI

Draft Your Application

Write a clear, specific request for information. Be precise about what you need.

Pay the Fee

₹10 application fee (exempted for Below Poverty Line applicants with BPL certificate).

Submit Application

Submit by post, online (rtionline.gov.in), or in person to the Public Information Officer (PIO).

Track Response

Authority must respond within 30 days. For life/liberty matters, within 48 hours.

First Appeal if Needed

If unsatisfied, appeal to First Appellate Authority within 30 days of receiving/not receiving response.
