Our Commitment

Karuppu News is committed to accuracy. When we make a mistake — factual, contextual, or otherwise — we correct it promptly, transparently, and without attempting to obscure the original error. Accuracy is the foundation of public trust in journalism.

Types of Corrections

Factual Correction

A verifiable fact in the article was incorrect (wrong number, name, date, quote, or attribution). The article is updated and a correction notice is appended at the top of the article.

Contextual Correction

The article omitted important context that materially changes its meaning or implications. The article is updated with added context and an editor's note is appended.

Headline Correction

A headline was misleading or inaccurate relative to the article body. The headline is updated and an editor's note is appended noting the original headline.

Image Correction

An image caption or image itself was incorrect. The image or caption is corrected and a correction notice is appended.

Retraction

Fundamental inaccuracies make the article unsuitable for continuation. The article text is replaced with a retraction notice that explains what was wrong and why. Retractions are reserved for serious failures of accuracy or sourcing.

How to Submit a Correction Request

If you believe an article contains an error, contact us at corrections@karuppu.in. Please include:

  • The URL of the article containing the error
  • The specific claim or element you believe is incorrect
  • Your evidence supporting the correction (documents, official records, links)
  • Your name and contact information (kept confidential unless you consent to attribution)

Our Process

  1. We acknowledge all correction requests within 24 hours of receipt.
  2. Our editorial team reviews the claim and the evidence provided.
  3. Where needed, we contact the original reporter and any relevant sources for clarification.
  4. If an error is confirmed, we implement the correction within 48 hours.
  5. We notify the person who submitted the correction request of the outcome.
  6. If we determine no correction is warranted, we explain our reasoning in our response.

Correction Notices

All corrections include a standardised notice appended to the article, formatted as:

CORRECTION (16 June 2026)

This article has been corrected. The original article stated [original error]. The correct information is [corrected information]. We apologise for the error.

Correction notices are never removed from articles. We do not silently edit articles to remove errors without a correction notice.

Corrections to Fact-Checks

Corrections to fact-check articles follow additional steps. The verdict label is updated to reflect the corrected assessment, and the methodology section is updated to document what changed. See also our Fact-Check Policy.

Complaints About Our Corrections Process

If you are unsatisfied with how we handled a correction request, you may escalate your complaint to editorial@karuppu.in. All escalated complaints will be reviewed by our senior editor within 5 business days.
